Iran's president is blogging
By Brent Dixon on August 14, 2006
The BBC reported today that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has started his very own blog. His inaugural article, posted Friday, is an autobiography.
He has also included a poll asking his readership if the US and Israel are trying to spark World War 3. That’s nice.
This is kind of funny (not “haha” funny, just funny) because Iran’s media control initiatives include what the BBC refers to as “one of the most sophisticated internet censorship programs in the world.”
When asked whether or not he thought this was ironic, Mahmoud threatened to wipe the questioner off the map.
On a separate but related note, German Chancellor Angela Merkel started podcasting a few months ago.
Talk amongst yourselves.

Forward thinking – great to see their PR / Campaign teams are catching the wave.
In the US – our President has a weekly radio address and periodic TV addresses (including the State of the Union) to update the nation. How long until those TV addresses are available as podcasts?
A blog from the leader of a nation (or even his PR team!) is a bit ambitious, however, in terms of time… so I’d be suprised if that idea takes off with other G8 nations.
Why am I here on September 07
Maybe if the Iranian President gets it off his chest in a blog it will lessen the possibilities of violence… we can only hope.

Nice job injecting some humor to this story…
